1/13/2009 I should buy Midway.I have a fair amount of money. I think I could buy Midway and set them straight. Wait, what's wrong with Midway? I'll tell you.
Midway is in trouble financially. They were set to be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange because the price of their stock, per share, fell below one dollar. They just got an extention to try to pull themselves out of their hole. And they wont pull it off. Why? Because the people at Midway are a mindless bunch of botards who can barely find their way out of their homes every day to go to work. Here's a short list of things Midway did to ruin their own lives:
1. You can't trust them to fix their own god damn games.
I think part of the reason Midway has a bad rep in the gaming industry is because, as my friend Trygon says, Midway is made up of retarded lazy employees. I'll expand more upon this in number 4 below, but let me just point out the final Achievement in the Xbox Live Arcade version of Smash TV, a classic game and one of the very few golden eggs Midway ever produced. The final Achievement, called Game Master (worth 50 Gamerscore points) is glitched and can't ever be unlocked. It wont ever be unlocked because Midway wont fix it. It's ok Midway, no one will care, right? You know how hard it is to fulfill the requirements to earn that Achievement? Oh, it's not that hard, you just have to BEAT THE ENTIRE GAME WITHOUT LOSING MORE THAN 3 LIVES.
2. Midway only made 5 great games.
The aformentioned Smash TV, Rampage, NARC, Satan's Hallow, and Joust. All 5 are retro late 80's-early 90's games. Everything else is pig vomit. Except, maybe I should add a 6th: Primal Rage. Maybe. But no.
3. I could think up better game ideas even if I had a lobotomy.
Seriously, what the hell kind of decision was Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe? The game is chock-full of fail. Here's a mini-list of why Midway deserves to be bankrupt over this monstrosity.
A. Robin and the fraile powerless Lex Luthor were included.
B. Badasses like Lobo and V (V for Vendetta) were excluded.
C. Because of the bad combo of MK and DC, MK's killer's reputations are forever tarnished.
D. Magic weaken's the super heroes despite the fact not all MK character's know magic?
E. Also on the subject, is Midway suggesting that Harry Potter could stomp Superman's ass?
4. Midway raped TNA iMPACT!.
You more than likely hate wrestling, but since this is my blog and not yours, kindly get bent. TNA iMPACT! is a vastly superior product from WWE's. Wrestling fans wont admit it, but the WWE is horrible. First of all, Vince McMahon is a dictator. I read wrestling tabloid websites like LordsOfPain.net and I've seen myself many an article about some kind of temper tantrum Vince McMahon has backstage of his own show. Hardcore legend Mick Foley fled the WWE because Vince McMahon wouldn't quit PMSing and screaming at Foley through his headset during live shows. The wrestlers backstage are practically living in fear when McMahon get's moody. Every week I read a report that someone was fired from the WWE for pissing him off. Top it off with s***ty storylines (Vince McMahon blowing himself up in a limo, elderly female wrestler Mae Young giving birth to a rubber hand, and Triple H accusing Kane of being a Necrophiliac), and you have a disgusting product. TNA may be newer and awfully scripted, but it's by far greater. And Midway ruined it's video game.
Midway, if you somehow managed to avoid destroy yourselves, do some research and find out what gamers want in a wrestling game. The WWE doesn't do it, and you certainly didn't do it. THQ/Yukes' games should not be the basis for the TNA iMPACT video game franchise. You want to look at the Nintendo 64 games by THQ/AKI (and actually follow through with it, not just say it and do the opposite). Better yet, check out Spike's Fire Pro Wrestling Returns and the other FPW games in the series.
You need female wrestlers (TNA Knockouts), blood, more than one weapon type, a better Create-a-Wrestler mode with more parts and better moveset customication, the ability to use created wrestlers online, the ability to save more than 5 custom wrestlers, AND TONE DOWN THE GOD DAMN DIFFICULTY. I swear to god the CPU cheats in Story mode the same on all three dificulty levels. 2/6/2008 No one cares about your Halo 3 armor, idiot.I had a brief but important confrontation with Bungie.net member, Wounded Stone concerning his topic I linked to above. Topic in question: "Spartan Helmet Personality Profile". In this topic, Wounded Stone makes it his duty to classify Halo 3 players positively or negatively based on the type of armor a member uses when playing over Xbox Live.
Wounded Stone, you judgemental prick, none of what you say is true and you need to be put in your place. You've got some nerve, pal.
In Halo 3, you unlock pieces of armor for your Spartan or Elite character by satisfying certain conditions. You can edit what kind of Helmet, shoulder parts, and the chest armor they wear, and some armor pieces are harder to obtain than others. These pieces of armor are purely cosmetic and offer no gameplay enhancements of hindrances.
Wounded Stone sees fit to judge people who wear Hayabusa (samurai) helmets and ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) helmets in multiplayer battles. What's the problem? Well, to unlock the Hayabusa armor, you have to collect all 13 Skulls (hidden objects that unlock cheats that can make Campaign mode harder when they're activated). The general problem is that when Halo 3 first came out and people started unlocking the helmet, people were flaunting their armor online as if they the greatest players ever and because they feel the armor is the coolest thing ever. To get the ODST helmet, you have to enter the Basic Training playlist in Matchmaking and play 10 matches to unlock it.
This fool at Bungie.net believes that those who unlock the Hayabusa helmet are arrogant and they think they're toughguys for doing something most of the Halo 3 community can easily do too. The problem is, not everyone who wears the Hayabusa helmet shoots their mouths off. Wounded Stone is judging everyone who wears the Hayabusa helmet for the actions a few people did when the game first came out. He also accuses ODST users of being "less skilled" because the helmet requires minimal effort to unlock, so everyone who does so and chooses to wear the helmet online must be as dumb as a brick.
If you clicked that link, you'll see a description for all 10 helmets that are unlockable in Halo 3, and each one has it's own stereotype listed (corrisponding shoulder and body armor parts allegedly enhance the stereotype for the helmet they go with). Here are my stereotypes based on the armor I personally wear.
Helmet: Hayabusa - Wannabee's. (No offense) They try to act tough, and play a mean game, but you can tell they dont really know what they are talking about. They like Halo, but are quick to flame BUNGIE for things going wrong that are THEIR OWN fault.
Shoulder: CQB - "Generally friendly and considerate. (I proudly count myself among the CQB)"
Body: EVA - "Generally quite knowledgable. I have observed not a few EVA's who seem to have a rational, logical answer for most problems. They seem to have insider information and can give you very easy to understand, insightfull answers to your questions."
First of all, I find it great that he clasifies himself within the nicest group he stereotyped despite being an asshole in stereotyping everyone else harshly. Now, his description of Hayabusa wearers does not fit me. Why? Because I don't go around claiming to be the greatest person ever for unlocking it. I wear it because the last Skull I needed to collect to unlock the helmet was one of the hardest things I ever did because the level it's in is so stressful on me, and I wear the helmet as a proud reminder to MYSELF that I did something I never thought I'd ever be able to do. I know a lot of Halo 3 players found getting the 13 Skulls to be easy as pie, but for me that last one wasn't, and last time I checked, no one matters to me but ME. That's why I wear Hayabusa armor.
I wear CQB shoulders because out of all the shoulder parts I unlocked, they show off my multiplayer Emblem the best. That's all. I am a friendly and considerate person, IF I get respect from my fellow players back. But that's not why I wear the CQB shoulders, which means I don't fit that stereotype either.
Lastly, I wear the EVA body armor. Why? For no reason. It's just my choice. I live in America, and last time I checked, I was allowed to wear whatever armor I wanted in Halo 3 because the Bill of Rights protects my right to wear the EVA body armor. I don't wear it to fit the stereotype, because I'm not a bright guy. I'm not the know-it-all stereotype Wounded Stone says EVA wearers are.
You know what what stereotypes he listed that I DO fall into? The Mark VI and ODST descriptions. Even though I don't wear Mark VI or ODST parts. Mark VI users, according to Wounded Stone, Mari IV users "just play to play". I play Halo 3 because I want to play it. I don't care if I win, and I don't care if I lose. I don't complain if I fairly lose a match, I keep playing just to play the game. ODST users, according to Wounded Stone, it's wearers are, quote-unquote "juvenille". Well, if I'm juvieille, why am I not the one who's classifying groups of people just because they don't play the way you play? Kiss my ass Wounded Stone.
One last thing. I've been noticing most, not all, but most people who were given Recon body armor from Bungie themselves (the only way to earn it is to impress Bungie enough for them to give it to you, otherwise, it's exclusive to Bungie employees) go around rubbing it in people's faces. I'd like to point out that other than the Recon helmet, which has flames around it and is also exclusive to Bungie employees, Recon body armor has nothing special about it, yet Recon body armors wearers think we're pieces of **** because we don't have their armor. I have a special message for these people:
WHO THE HELL CARES? Who the hell cares if you got your nose dirty (I.e. kissed ass) to get Recon armor? You accidentially suicide yourself in a match in an impressive way, or create a video using Halo 3's multiplayer to earn Recon armor, and suddenly you think you're bad ****? Kindly shove off. Recon body armor has no outstanding features on it that makes it stand out from any other piece of body armor. If you wear that armor and move around, your chest armor looks no different from the default Mark VI armor. If it doesn't have any distinguishing features about it, who the hell cares? You're impressing no one, dickhead. Chest armor is the least cosmetic piece of armor you can edit. End of story. 1/14/2008 No Goldeneye on Xbox Live Arcade? Get off Nintendo's back.Kotaku and several Xbox-loyal gamers are pissed because Goldeneye 007, the popular Nintendo 64 game from 1997, was scrapped from being ported to Xbox Live Arcade, because Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, according to the article I linked:
"believes that, as a title which appeared on a Nintendo console, GoldenEye shouldn't be made available on a competitor's system."
I quickly want to point something out to these Nintendo-bashers who feel they're being cheated out of a great game Nintendo doesn't own the rights to.
Capcom made Megaman 1-6 on the NES (the original NES). The reason they look the wy they look and play the way they play is because of the NES hardware that powered those games. Those games were later ported as they appear on the NES onto a rival company Sony's consoles, the Playstation and the Playstation 2. Capcom could have completely remade them, making the ports justified, but they didn't, they moved NES-powered games onto someone elses consoles. They pretty much made the Playstation and Playstation 2 emulate the NES in order to run those games, and what compensation did Nintendo get? None. Even though the NES is the reason we enjoyed those Megaman games the way they turned out.
Same idea here with Goldeneye and the Nintendo 64. Goldeneye 007 was made on the Nintendo 64 and the reason we love how it played and how it looked is because the Nintendo 64 made them play and look that way. And the game was about to be moved to the Xbox 360 that same way: by emulating the N64 to run the original and adding an optional graphical enhancement to it exclusive to the Xbox Live Arcade port. Doesn't change the fact Nintendo wont recieve compensation for the Xbox 360 running a Nintendo 64-powered game.
Nintendo does have a say in the matter. The game was made by Rare and Rare is now owned by Microsoft, but the fact remains that the was made on Nintendo's hardware, and that's the only form the game has ever taken. And Nintendo doesn't want anyone profitting from their past hardware but themselves.
End of story.
